The master’s program in choreography consists of two years of full-time studies at the advanced level. The program is internship-based and research preparatory and leads to an artistic master’s degree.
The master’s program in choreography creates an environment for learning, research and creative processes and for the development of choreographic practices. By discussing and analyzing different perceptions of body and movement, the program has set its sights on problem orientation. Attention is drawn to the links between choreography and social, ethical and political issues.
The Master’s Program in Choreography
Our two-year master’s program in choreography is given in English. The program started in 2008 and has played an important role in the development of dance and choreography in Sweden and internationally, especially with regard to the interaction between theory and practice.
In recent years, the program has been interested in the complex dynamics between art, civil society and the public, and critically addresses the issue of agents in relation to choreography. The program is international, but also emphasizes the importance of local relationships and anchoring. Former program directors are: Frédéric Gies, Jefta van Dinther, Mårten Spångberg and Jens Östberg.
