University degrees: Courses
Course length: 1 March - 15 April
Course city: Stockholm
Can you animate but want to expand your workspace with 3D animation? The course 3D animation is for those who know animation but have not yet learned how to animate in 3D computer programs.
The course 3D animation is aimed at you who know traditional animation such as cartoon animation, doll animation or stop-motion animation will teach you 3D animation. The idea is that you should transfer your animation expertise to 3D computer programs and thus increase the possibilities for creative and commercial work.
The course is thus not a course in general 3D graphics and to create films from the ground up in 3D programs. We limit ourselves to using ready-made rigs or skeletons and learn the parts of programs needed for the animation part itself.
The main focus will be on animation of characters and objects of various kinds, so that you could be part of a team as an animator in, for example, animated film production, commercials and computer game production. We will touch on other parts of the 3D program to be able to get simple movies of our animations and basic modeling tools. We will also discuss how traditional animation principles work in the 3D animation medium.
The course responsible teacher is Kalle Sandzén, lecturer in narrative animated film.
The goal is that you will learn to animate in 3D programs, understand the conditions for animation in 3D, and be able to showcase your 3D animation skills in moving examples after the end of the course.
The course is given at half speed for 10 weeks, teaching is on Mondays all day and approximately every other Wednesday morning. It also includes your own home information.
