University degrees: Postgraduate
Course length: 2 years
Course city: Bruxelles
This master offers a learning ground for those who want to write for the stage or for the image. The curriculum is based on two disciplines taught in the school: cinema and theater.
In the end, each student will choose to write for the theater or for the cinema, but initially will have had the opportunity to experience both media.
The general philosophy of the master is as follows: starting from everyone’s projects, it is a question of thinking together of an accompaniment of writing in the process of being made, of proposing to the one who writes a first look, opening of a discussion, to test the validity of such or such theatrical writing by its setting in play or to confront a scenario with professionals of the cinema.
The master’s in writing is not intended to tell theater writers or screenwriters what or how they should write.
The idea of an academic model that should be followed goes completely against the various forms that scriptures can take today.
Writing “cloning” is not on the agenda.
Each writing has something specific. The proposed course aims to strengthen this specificity. Everyone can deepen their themes, their vision of the world and people, and, through theoretical and practical approaches, strengthen their skills to concretely express their universe.
In block M1, each student will have to produce short theatrical dialogues and short screenplays of cinematographic fiction and will also work on writing TV series.
The M2 block will be mainly devoted to the end of studies work which will, depending on the orientation chosen, be a feature film script or the writing of a long theatrical play.
