Video Editing Course

The Video Editing course is in Rome and is annual. Its main purpose is the training of the professional figures of the editor and assistant editor through the analysis of facets, problems and aspects related to post-production – on the AVID station – and the edition of a film in all its phases .

Duration of the course: from January to December

Lessons start: January 28.

Technically, film editing is that operation which, by combining the end of a shot with the beginning of the next, relates all the elements of the film to each other. For many theorists it is considered the specific film, or the peculiarity that distinguishes cinema from other forms of expression. The film editor, who takes care of the post-production of the film, is entrusted with the task of building a sense, giving a shape and a rhythm, creating a temporal and spatial dimension of the film. And to do this it uses specific technologies and software such as After Effect, Adobe Premier, Final Cut and Avid Media Composer.
The 3 addresses of the Video Editing Course in Rome are:
THEORETICAL

Viewing of films and sequences and discussion on video editing in relation to narrative, emotional and expressive content. Elements of the history of this filmic practice and its evolution also in relation to the technical evolution of audio and video instruments.

PRACTICAL

By way of examples, during the course of an academic year, two films were used, edited by the same teacher of the master Alessio Doglione: Baciami piccina, directed by R. Cimpanelli, Rodeo Drive production, Medusa distribution (in the preparatory phase of the program the students , through visits and tutorials, they closely followed the evolution of the editing) and Il Santo, directed by A. Belluco, AB Film production (in the advanced phase of the program the students carried out a real internship as assistant editor).

FOURTH PART

PRACTICAL APPROACH OF THE FIRST EXERCISES OF THE SCHOOL
DEFINITION OF THE ASPECTS OF POST-PRODUCTION WITH VISITS TO SOUND EDITING STUDIOS, MIX ROOMS AND PLANTS
THE STUDY OF THE EVOLUTION OF VIDEO EDITING IN REAL TIME: in the last academic year, for example, the second season of Rocco Schiavone, Cross production, and other projects (the Medici, Lorenzo the magnificent, Lux Vide production).

PART FIVE

POSSIBLE DEVELOPMENT OF A REAL STAGE OF ASSISTANT EDITOR IN A FILM: during an academic year, for example, “Rocco Schiavone”.

The number of hours reserved for individual subjects varies according to the phase of the academic year and the decisions taken from time to time by the teaching staff according to the achievement of the educational objectives.
