The way to see your name on the end credits of a film is long and complex, especially if you want to sign a director’s job. For more than 80 years, the CSC has been training tomorrow’s directors, accompanying them on a multidisciplinary path that helps young authors to grow and establish themselves!
The course offers the tools – critical and operational – that allow filmmakers to express and develop their attitudes and to confront themselves as protagonists with a professional and social reality in continuous evolution, subject to profound transformations. Those researches and study methodologies are examined, debated and tested with the aim of providing students with a full knowledge and mastery of the language of cinema, declined according to the different media applications: works intended for the screen, television, the network. The analytical phases are followed by laboratory activities, articulated both in the direction of genre cinema and in that of auteur cinema, the primary moment of implementation and verification of the acquired notions.
During the first and second year, courses, exercises and workshops provide students with the tools to deepen the director’s work, stimulating attitudes, skills and creativity. The students also make a series of film products in collaboration with all the school’s educational areas.
During the third year, having verified the level of learning achieved, diploma films are made together with the students of the other courses. The last period of the study year is aimed at promoting the introduction into the world of work of the students, whose participation as interns on films in progress is promoted.
Among the teachers of the last five years Gianni Amelio, Francesco Bruni, Gianfranco Cabiddu, Claudio Cupellini, Stefano Gabrini, Miguel Lombardi, Piero Messina, Francesco Munzi, Gianfranco Pannone.
