Applicant’s profile: For students who have already completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Film Art or in Media and Humanities in schools abroad, the Film Academy of Miroslav Ondříček offers the possibility to continue with their studies in the Master’s Degree Programme in one of the following specializations: Screenwriting and Directing, Cinematography, Sound design, Production and Animation.
THEORY As advanced students the primary focus of the MA is on developing practical skills in their specific field of interest. The education during the first year is based on individual exercises and consultations with teachers – active professionals – and supported by theoretical lectures. The first year will be also dedicated to preparing for their diploma film project.
PRAXIS In their second year, students concentrate entirely on their graduation project. Students are encouraged to form their own crews, to experience the filmmaking process from the pre- to post-production stages, and to develop their collaborative and communicative skills. Students have the possibility to attend professional work placement in studios, post production companies and television stations.
The diploma movie is a 15 – 25 min. short drama/documentary or animated movie.
Graduates profile: The aim of the MA is to build upon a student’s knowledge and practical filmmaking skills of audiovisual creation obtained during their BA studies, which provides students with professional confidence and and job security in creative professions. Students are pushed to realise their own artistic creation, to reflect upon their own creative projects, to broaden their imagination, and to sharpen the aesthetic and dramatic feeling of their work. They are continuously acquainted with modern technological innovations and methods, which expands the possibilities of their multimedia production.
During studies focused on production and producing, emphasis is placed on the precise mapping of all the economic aspects of multimedia production, on the financial analysis of a proposed project to decide it’s viability, and on the adequate preparation of presentations for multimedia projects which are necessary for conferring with co-production partners, sponsors and other entities (at various levels of production and multimedia development).
