The Editing Course aims to train professionals capable of operating in the audiovisual post-production field.
During the first year the students deepen their knowledge of the technical means and the setting up of a project within the assembly platforms. They participate in lessons concerning both the work and role of the editor, and the work of the assistant editor. They follow the course of Analysis of the cinematographic language, through the vision and commentary of films and sequences, with particular reference to the art of editing. They participate in the interdisciplinary lessons of History of cinema, History of art and Musical historiography, which last for the whole three years. I am an active part of the assistant, directing and editing courses and, together with the screenwriting students, they work on the relationships between screenplay and editing. With the students of all the other disciplines, they contribute to the making of fiction and documentary short films, following all the stages – shooting, editing, sound editing, music editing, mixing – up to the final copy.
During the second year, the students deepen the study of the artistic and technical complexity of the cinematographic language; they take part in seminars with professional editors, in lessons on digital visual effects (VFX), on conforming, and experience the phases concerning the processes for the finalization of a digital product.
During the third year, having verified the degree of learning achieved, diploma films are made together with the students of the other courses. The last period of the year is aimed at promoting the introduction of students into the world of work, promoting their participation as interns on films in progress.
