The course in Animated Cinema was established in 2001 in agreement with the Piedmont Region at the Piedmont headquarters of the Experimental Center of Cinematography, with a specialized training and research mission for the art and animation industry. The aim of the school is to cultivate talent to train artists and technicians with an in-depth understanding of the whole process of creation and realization of the animated film, also providing them with technical-artistic skills and specific techniques for the main professional areas, with particular regard towards Character design, Animated scenography, Visual storytelling, Previewing and Storyboard, 2d and 3d animation; Animated Compositing, Direction and Art Direction.
The training program is developed in relation to the continuous evolution of the sector for the various media and in collaboration with institutions, companies, professionals, associations and events of Italian and European animation (Cartoon Italia, Animation Italia, Asifa Italia, Cartoons on the Bay, ToonBoom inc.). The school enjoys the support and collaboration, among others, of Fondazione CRT, Compagnia di San Paolo, Film Commission Torino Piemonte, RAI Ragazzi, Turin Chamber of Commerce, TBS Italia Cartoon Network.
NGCI – National Union of Film Journalists in 2008 and 2015. In 2017 he received the “Emile” European Animation Award – Best Student Film, the award of the European animation industry for the best film of a cinema school.
Among the teachers of the last five years Angelo Gabriele Barrocu (reference teacher of visual effect animation and compositing), Laura Fiori (reference teacher of 3D animation), Sergio Toffetti (reference teacher of storytelling and production), Eva Zurbriggen (reference teacher of 2D animation ) identify the guidelines for training, take care of the educational programs and constantly check the progress of the training and planning activity, in addition Mario Addis, Giaime Alonge, Giorgio Bellasio, Konstantin Bronzit, Paul Bush, Mauro Carraro, Christian De Vita, Michel Fuzellier, Stefania Gallo, Marco Martis, Joanna Quinn.
Chiara Magri In 1986 she began to collaborate with ASIFA, the Italian section of the Association Internationale du Film d’Animation, following her cultural, editorial and professional training activities. He was Secretary General from 1997 to 2002. For Asifa and other clients, he curates and organizes programs, reviews and exhibitions on Italian and international animated cinema. For Asifa he is in charge of the National Continuing Education Plan aimed at the professional requalification of the sector (1996-1999) with RAI School and Media Plan; he curates the “Incontri Arte Animazione”, an international conference-exhibition on author animation at the Gallery of Modern Art in Turin (2000-2005). He holds courses and seminars, among others for the European Institute of Design Milan and Turin, Master in Digital Entertainment of the VRMM Park – University of Turin. He is a member of juries and selection committees for the most important international specialized festivals. He co-directed the first two researches on the industrial animation sector in Italy commissioned by RAI Fiction to Isicult. He writes for specialized publications.
