Talent is a prerequisite, everyone must experience it themselves. The mere will to make films is a good start, but nothing more than a start. In order to then be able to realize the films, it is necessary to discover the personal, very own, unmistakable potential. And that is a thorny and often frustrating liberation struggle against models that are too easy to find, against prejudice, indolence, discouragement and self-deception. The master’s degree serves to deepen the artistic formal language in the sense of a personal handwriting. Students have the opportunity to increasingly specialize in personal, artistic talent (documentary or feature film) and their academic inclination (film history, film theory). The scientific examination of film is deepened and, through sufficient practice, extensive artistic development is carried out, which makes it possible to cope with the length of a full-length film. The master’s degree also offers the freedom to realize one’s own visions without any economic constraints.
The experience in dealing with actors is consolidated and sufficient knowledge is acquired for meaningful cooperation with the specialist staff in costume, mask and props. Graduates must master complex scenes with special effects and stunts, i.e. they must be able to plan the use of special technical effort and additional recording teams and be able to integrate them into the overall process. Furthermore, they have the best possible musical education in order to engage with composers, conductors and singers about the musical-dramaturgical conception of the film.
