In this Industry Certificate course delivered over three intensive, practical weeks, you’ll learn essentials skills to work in post-production in TV. Learn the fundamentals of Avid Media Composer, the essential skills required to apply for work as a TV Assistant Editor and, if your ambitions are to progress into a creative role, the creative skills required to begin to craft scripted and unscripted short scenes. Delivered by industry expert Rebecca Edwards who has ten plus years industry experience, you will engage in practical on-the-tools learning, lively discussions and meet Industry guests.
You will receive a copy of the Avid Media Composer 101: Media Composer Fundamentals I textbook and cover the official Avid Media Composer 101 curriculum during the course.
Learn the essential skills for the assistant editor role in TV production
Understand and perform the skills required to ingest and organise material and edit and export scenes using industry standard software Avid Media Composer
Gain an insight into the editor’s role including making creative decisions to effectively build a short scene
If your goal is to work in TV post-production , this course will give you the essentials skills to work as an Assistant Editor in today’s fast paced production environment . You’ll learn all the technical skills you’ll need to fulfil this vital role, plus gain an insight in the craft of editing. It is not a purely creative art-of-editing course.
This is an almost 100% computer based course (as is the assistant editor role) and you’ll be taught on MACS, so you’ll need to be comfortable in that environment and have an aptitude for technology.

Attendance at all sessions is essential for you to complete the course. All assessments are within course hours.
All software and hardware are provided for this course. It is recommended that you have access to Avid Media Composer outside /after the course to continue to consolidate your skills.
