When Georges Méliès crashed his spaceship on the moon in 1902, cinematography realized that the boundaries between the real world and the imaginative world in the representation had visibly thinned. Over time, the ability to create visual effects (VFX), or the set of techniques through which images are created or modified, have refined to the point that what can be thought of, can also be reproduced in a realistic way. In the last decade there has been a significant increase in visual effects in films that traditionally did not use them; this prospective opening made clear the need to devise training courses suitable for training specialists in the sector.
The Visual Effects Supervisor & Producer course includes an intensive study program designed to train highly specialized professionals capable of meeting the needs of active productions in the entertainment galaxy. A new generation of VFX specialists who are able to support, manage and carry out the production and post-production of products that require the use of special effects.
An educational path that will give importance to all stages of production, from the subject to the script to the storyboard, also focusing on the relationship between traditional photography, VFX and CGI. The course will make use of cutting-edge software, techniques and technologies and a tutoring program aimed at creating works aimed at composing its own demo-reel.
The aim of the course is to prepare artists who know how to manage and solve problems, adapt to production requests and needs, make the best use of the tools available, giving shape to a perfect synergy between technologies and creativity.
Through a preparation not limited to the mere use of dedicated software, and thanks to the interaction with all the other courses of the School, students will have the opportunity to experience the real world of production so as to be ready, at the end of the three-year course to enter with success in the job market.
