Is it possible to laugh in all situations? Why is laughter needed in a humanitarian crisis? What does it mean to exist in contact with the audience? What does a clown do?
In this course you will get a basic introduction to working with scenic design for and with humanitarian vulnerable groups. The course includes practical exercises in clown, physical comedy and how, within the framework of your performing arts discipline, you can create scenic material (solo / duo / group) for an international audience. The course explores and problematizes concepts such as playfulness, presence, responsiveness, interaction, audience contact and audience control, psychosocial support, humor and laughter.
The course is developed in collaboration with the nonprofit Clowner Without Borders Association, which also leads the course as a guest teacher.
